This month, we are proud to celebrate Leslie Makamure from Meadow View Care Home, whose unwavering kindness, dedication, and generosity inspired us to give back to him and his family in a meaningful way.

Why Leslie Deserved This Wish

Nominated by his colleague Leri Mabhena, Leslie is known for his selfless support of both the people he cares for and his fellow team members. He always steps forward to help, caring for one service user with such compassion that he’s become one of her favourite caregivers. Beyond his professional role, Leslie is a pillar of support for his colleagues, offering help whenever needed.

Leslie’s commitment extends beyond the workplace. As a single father to his 14-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter, he works tirelessly to provide for his family. Knowing how much his children love the outdoors, we were delighted to grant them a family trip to Centre Parcs as a Christmas gift—a small token of appreciation for all the love and care he gives to others.

A Family’s Heartfelt Experience

Leslie and his children enjoyed a magical four-night stay at Centre Parcs Elveden Forest from January 27th to 31st. Reflecting on the experience, Leslie shared a touching statement that truly captures the joy and lasting memories created during their trip:

"The news of this holiday was the best news ever for my children. Upon our arrival at Centre Parcs, we were welcomed by an amazing staff team. We initially went for a walk in the woods to soak in the wonderful atmosphere. My daughter kept asking if we were in the right place and how I had managed to afford a holiday like this!

The four nights we spent there felt like four months—we were completely taken aback. Beyond the beautiful surroundings, the trip gave us a much-needed opportunity to reconnect, something that’s been difficult due to our busy work and school schedules back in Essex.

My children even said they’d do all the chores at home every day just to return in the summer because there’s still so much to explore! We had so much fun—the experience was truly priceless. I’m humbled by this incredible gesture, which has uplifted my mental health after a challenging 2024".
