One such incredible individual is Mary-Jane Lacia from Trust Homecare Solutions Lincoln Limited, who was nominated by Eric Lacia, her Operations Manager, for her unwavering dedication.

Going the Extra Mile

Mary-Jane was on shift when a service user began experiencing chest pain. Without hesitation, she called an ambulance, which arrived promptly to assess the situation. The paramedics advised that the service user should be taken to A&E for further evaluation.

Despite the fact that the service user lives alone with family far away in Scotland, Mary-Jane didn’t think twice about accompanying them to the hospital. They arrived at 5 PM, but due to high demand, they were not seen by a doctor until 11 PM. Rather than leaving the service user to face the long wait alone, Mary-Jane stayed by their side the entire time and personally ensured they got home safely once they were discharged. She didn’t return to her own home until midnight—a true testament to her selflessness and compassion.

A Surprise Recognition

Mary-Jane was completely surprised to be nominated for a Pollard’s Promises wish, let alone to receive a spa voucher as a thank-you for her kindness. She shared:

"I wasn’t expecting to be nominated to Pollard’s Promises and actually be chosen to receive a granted wish. It was such a surprise to receive the spa voucher! I was just doing my job, as we treat our service users like family. Going with the service user to A&E and staying with them for over six hours is something I would happily do for my grandmother."

Recognising True Dedication

Mary-Jane’s story is a perfect example of the extraordinary commitment shown by care professionals every single day. Her actions provided comfort, reassurance, and support to someone who needed it the most. We’re honoured to have been able to give back to her with a well-deserved spa day.
